Mapping and Spatial Technology

Recent advances in digital cartography, spatial data visualization, and database technology have made computer based mapping more powerful than ever. The prevalence of geospatial tools like Google Earth, Smartphones with embedded Global Positioning Systems (GPS), and web based maps with live traffic and easy to access driving directions have increased the interest of the general population in geographic data. This in turn has raised expectations for how data can and should be collected analyzed and presented in environmental documents. Geospatial tools like Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Computer Assisted Design (CAD), and 3D modeling and their derived products have become integral to the process of collecting and assessing environmental data. ECORP has mapping and spatial information technology staff who utilize these tools to provide a geospatial data management framework for our clients and their projects.
